1 - The reference, clipping from newspaper about some dance show, they had absolutely breath taking images.
2 - Graphite drawing, finding the important points to construct the figure, spine curve, shoulders, pelvis, elbows and knees, trying to find the volume of the shapes.
3 - Charcoal very fast drawing, trying to find the points with the most pressure and weight.
In class we were asked to model for our fellow students 30 sec poses, the one who was looking at the pose was supposed to see where do we feel the most pressure, the one who modeled was supposed to pay attention to that pressure and then compare notes. I can't even begin to explain how important it is for understanding the pose and I strongly advice that before trying to draw a pose, try to do that pose yourself.
